Blog from a Tela Volunteer

May 19, 2011 by , under News.

Carly S. - Volunteer in Tela - Honduras Children Starting in November 2010, HondurasChildren began a project in collaboration with a large children’s home (orphanage) in Tela.   The first three months were part of our Vacation Activities Program (VAP) and followed the same basic structure as the VAP in our other locations.  However, once the children returned to school in February, it became a challenge to find a schedule and structure that would work with everyone’s schedules.  As a new program and combined with erratic teacher’s strikes, it wasn’t always easy to make it work but we’ve got a good routine now and we send lots of thanks to Colin, Andrew, Carly, Theresa, Kat, Aubrey and Samantha, the volunteers who have put this in place!  If you’d like to read more about life as a volunteer in Tela, please check out Carly’s blog.  Many thanks to Carly for sharing this with us!  http://carlyhonduras.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
